Chocolate Birthday Cupcake Recipe

MMMmmm. Who doesn't love a chocolate birthday cupcake ?. This is a basic recipe for chocolate cupcakes. It is great as is,or can become as decadent as you want. This chocolate cupcake is a classic, and is delicious. It is bound to have the chocoholic asking for another.Think about making a double batch, you can never have enough chocolate cupcakes!

Ingredients

2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup water
2 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 ounces melted unsweetened baking chocolate

Baking Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line cupcake pans with paper or foil liners.
Combine all ingredients into your mixing bowl.
Mix on high speed for approximately 3 minutes.
Fill cupcake liners 1/2 to 2/3 full.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool completely.
Once cupcakes cool, they are ready to be frosted and decorated.

Chocolate Frosting

1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 envelopes of pre-melted unsweetened baking chocolate
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup condensed milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Beat butter and chocolate in bowl on medium speed until blended and smooth. Gradually beat in remaining ingredients until smooth, and have a nice spreading consistency. Decorate as desired with sprinkles, sugar crystlas, or your choice of Cupcake Topper.
