Chocolate Curls




Chocolate curls make delicious edible Cupcake Toppers. They make a simple, elegant decoration to the top of your frosted cupcake.You can use any color chocolate. This is a convenient cupcake edible decoration, as they store nicely. You can make them ahead of time and place them in in airtight container. When placed on top of your cupcake, they are simple, yet make the nicest topper.

The ideas for this topper are endless. You can use different color melting chocolate, and color coordinate your cupcake theme. For example, you can make yellow or chocolate curls with a small vegetable peeler and place them on top of your frosting. Then add small chips to make petals. Or, make green curls, to make grass. You could add a cute lady bug to the top. Or, make an easter basket. Whatever holiday, the curls are diverse, they will fit on any cupcake as a great cupcake topper. Get creative with your ideas, they can be endless. You can get different color melting chocolate at your local craft store. Some grocery stores carry them too. Or, you can add some food coloring to your white chocolate. You can even find different flavored melting chocolate, ie: strawbery or peanut butter. I would take bright yellow curls and place them on top of lemon cupcakes. How about a green and red decoration of curls, for a topper on your Christmas Cupcakes. The seasonal holiday colors of green and red, or blue and white, make Christmas Cupcake Toppers Get out your chocolate melting pot. I think a chocolate curl would make a nice Valentine topper.

Directions

  1. Allow your chocolate bar to sit out at room temperature.
  2. Peel your curls from the chocolate with a vegetable peeler, and leave on a sheet of wax paper, or non stick paper.
  3. Try not to handle the curls, as your fingers will melt them.
  4. Drop the curls right from the chocolate, or use a spoon.

Thicker Curls

  1. Melt chocolate with 2 talbespoons of shortening or vegetable oil until smooth. You can use a double boiler, or the microwave for about 30-50 seconds.
  2. Pour the mixture into a small tin lined with non-stick or wax paper.
  3. Allow block of choclate to form to room temperature, and remove.
  4. With a vegetable curler, peel the curls.
